Zan is an all-natural therapeutic composition for treating symptoms associated with ADD/ADHD comprising Proanthocyanidin (Pycnogenol), Yucca, Hawthorn, Silymarin, and Ginkgo Biloba. The actual daily dosage is dependent upon the weight of the subject.


Silymarin protects liver cell membrane against hepatotoxic agents and improves liver function. It is generally accepted that Silymarin exerts a membrane-stabilizing action preventing or inhibiting membrane peroxidation. Silymarin protects the liver through antioxidant activity and stabilization of cell membranes. It prevents certain toxins from entering liver cells and stimulates regeneration of damaged cells.


Pycnogenol is an extract from the bark of the French Maritime Pine Tree, and is considered to be one of the most potent natural antioxidant. It helps fight free radicals and keeps the cells and tissues healthy. It strengthens capillaries, arteries and veins; improves circulation and promotes the integrity of the vessel walls. It is rapidly absorbed in the body. It is important for brain functions, not only because it protects blood vessels, but also because it is one of the few dietary antioxidants that readily crosses the blood-brain barrier to protect brain cells.

Yucca (Yucca Schidigera)

Yucca (Yucca Schidigera) is a member of the lily family. The plant provides nutritional support to the structural system. Most often included in formulas designed to “break up obstructions” which include the chronic degenerative diseases, joint inflammation … etc. Yucca also works by cleaning the colon and regulating colonic bacteria – it helps to reduce the burden on the other eliminative systems of the body; kidneys, liver, lymph and blood. Yucca alkalizes the body as it cleans out waste acids. Yucca is rich in vitamin A, B-complex and vitamin C. Yucca is also a good source of calcium, copper, manganese, potassium and phosphorous.

Originally it was used for both food and medicine – yucca’s natural steroid properties, Saponins, have been known to reduce inflammation and obstructions of the joints. Yucca also contains antibacterial and antifungal properties that contribute to the cleansing of the colon, purifying the blood, and helping keep the kidneys and liver free of toxins.


Bilberry is like other bioflavonoids, anthocyanosides are potent antioxidants. In addition, they assist with normal formation of collagen in connective tissue and help strengthen capillaries in the body. Anthocyanosides are also associated with improving capillary and venous blood flow. Bioflavonoids are also extremely efficient antioxidants and assist the body in countering the effect of potentially harmful free radicals. Anthocyanosides strengthen the body’s small blood vessels, known as capillaries; owing to their antioxidant capabilities, they protect the capillaries from free radical damage, they also help build stronger capillaries by stimulating the formation of healthy connective tissue; they do this by promoting the normal cross-linking of collagen – the backbone of healthy tissue. They are also associated with the formation of new, healthy capillaries. Anthocyanosides improve circulation through larger blood vessels. Studies have indicated that blood vessel tone is improved in both arteries and veins after exposure to anthocyanosides.

Hawthorn (berries)

Hawthorn (berries) are an extract that improves the efficiency of the heart by increasing blood supply to the heart muscle. As a result, the heart is able to pump more blood to the body. Hawthorn also lowers the resistance to blood flow in the peripheral vessels. Has been used to treat digestive problems and insomnia. In the late nineteenth century European physicians discovered that the Hawthorn tree could be beneficial as a cardiotonic. Hawthorn is rich in bioflavonoids, compounds that are essential for vitamin C function and that also help strengthen blood vessels. This herb benefits the heart in many ways; it works as a vasodilator, that is, it increases the flow of blood and oxygen to the heart. It also lowers blood pressure, thus reducing the work required by the heart to pump blood throughout the body. At the same time, it helps strengthen the heart muscle. It also works as a diuretic, helping to rid the body of excess salt and water. In summary, it enhances cardiovascular health, and improves circulation. There are certain chemical constituents in the berries which seem to enhance enzyme metabolism and oxygen utilization in the heart muscle.

Ginko Biloba (or Ginko)

Ginko Biloba (or Ginkgo) exerts a positive effect on the vascular system, the body’s vast network of blood vessels that delivers blood and oxygen to various organ systems. It increases blood flow to the brain, lower extremities, and the central nervous system. Ginko is a powerful antioxidant for the brain and the central nervous system and also exerts a protective effect on the cells of the nervous system. It has been shown to improve memory, brain function, cerebral & peripheral circulation, oxygenation, and blood flow. It increases peripheral blood flow with no lessening of cerebral circulation. Chemical vaso-dilators accumulate in the expanded vessels rather than circulate to the veins that feed the central nervous system. Ginko increases blood flow to both the perphery and the brain.
